Raul Rubiera | Miami Herald | Getty ImagesWhen Carolyn Lamb saw news of Cuban spy Victor Manuel Rocha's arrest on the news last December, she recognized him immediately. The lower the value of the claims, the less the Cuban government would have to pay in any future negotiated settlement. Ashby assumed Rocha's paranoia about eavesdropping was in response to the George W. Bush administration's opposition to the Cuba claims buying business. But according to the Justice Department, by that point Rocha was already in his third decade as a Cuban agent. EbenhackThe first defense expert witness: a Trump mega-donorThe third defense witness to take the stand, developer Steven Witkoff, was, like Donald Trump, Jr., hardly an objective source of testimony. But on Tuesday he became Trump's first expert witness, in the field of real estate valuation. His multi-billion-dollar brokerage firm, Lockton Companies, earned $1.2 million last year as Trump's insurance broker, he said. He said he didn't have a real estate license — he doesn't need one to be a broker, he explained.

After several years, Ms. Allen became a nurse by graduating from a city program, and before returning to the pediatric hospital in her freshly earned nurse’s whites and cape, she worked briefly in Sea View’s adult wards. The most striking ornamental aspect of these pavilions was the six-foot-high terra-cotta frieze running around each building beneath its eaves. Here, against a backdrop of golden tiles, could be found polychrome images of doctors, seashells, garlands, red crosses and white nurses. The terra-cotta images were created using the “sectile” technique introduced at the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris. In June, New York City Health + Hospitals agreed to allow the New York City Fire Department to occupy the old Sea View staff house for 40 years.

The year’s most expensive sale in New York City took place in August at 220 Central Park South in Midtown, where an expansive duplex in the villa portion of the park-facing condo complex closed at $80 million. It sold for $30 million, far less than the $110 million initially sought by the developers six years ago. The buyer was Scott Lynn, an art collector and the founder and chief executive of Masterworks, an art investment platform. The crown penthouse at the new 20-story condo at 109 East 79th Street also sold, for $35 million, which was the month’s second biggest sale. The full-floor unit has 5,721 square feet, plus an additional 3,666 square feet of outdoor space.

Over its 1987 streak, the Dow climbed to 2,104.47, from roughly 1,895.95 — a gain of 11%. If the Dow were to finish higher Thursday, it would tie the stock benchmark's longest winning streak ever, which was in June 1897. Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust, the portfolio the Club uses for investing, owns just over a quarter of the stocks in the Dow. Honeywell 's (HON) 2.5% gain amid the Dow's 13-session winning streak is being wiped away by the stock's post-earnings slide Thursday. Microsoft 's (MSFT) roughly flat overall performance during the Dow's streak, squeaking out a just 0.2% gain, is due in large part to the stock's 3.8% decline Wednesday.

It was a pain in our butt.”Fortunately, Rummel knew a guy. The Case of the Missing Picasso, revealed here for the first time, goes back. Back before the much more notorious theft of 13 works of art from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in 1990. Back, in a sense, to a time before Picasso had even painted the piece in question. Back to the 1950s of Waterville, Maine, where the Rummel boys — Bill and his younger brother, Whit — were testing their hometown’s Yankee forbearance.

The group was officially created in 1969 as the “Abortion Counseling Service of Women’s Liberation.”But after running ads in an underground newspaper: “Pregnant? “It wasn’t just abortion,” Barron explained. “Vacuum aspiration was much easier to do, and I think it’s less difficult for the woman,” Scott said. We had to keep the service running.”Laura Kaplan volunteered for the Janes, later immortalizing the group in her book, "The Story of Jane: The Legendary Underground Feminist Abortion Service." Each Jane was charged with 11 counts of abortion and conspiracy to commit abortion, with a possible sentence of up to 110 years in prison.

  + stars: | 2023-04-04 | by ( Krystal Hur | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +1 min
New York CNN —The home arena for NBA’s Miami Heat is getting rid of FTX in its name, months after the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange’s fall from grace. Security software company Kaseya acquired naming rights for the formerly named FTX Arena in a $117 million deal. The Miami Heat and Miami-Dade County ended their relationship with FTX and began to search for a new naming rights partner the day the cryptocurrency exchange filed for bankruptcy. The arena was renamed FTX Arena in 2021 after the company reportedly entered a $135 million, 19-year deal. Kaseya is headquartered in Miami and is the first local company to receive naming rights to the arena, according to the statement.
